Conservative Candidate Gary Vidal announces funding for cell towers along Hanson Lake Road (Hwy 106)
September 10, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEADOW LAKE, SK – Today Gary Vidal, Conservative candidate for Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River, announced that a Conservative government would bring cell service to several communities in northern Saskatchewan via the Hanson Lake Road (Hwy 106).
“This important investment will provide great benefit to our rural and Indigenous communities and businesses,” said Vidal.
A Conservative government will partner with the Government of Saskatchewan to build cell towers with broadband infrastructure along all 325 kilometres of Highway 106. These networks will serve many remote and seasonal towns, providing critical connectivity in areas that are currently underserviced. This is just one example of Conservatives’ commitment to getting rural infrastructure built and connecting all of Canada to high-speed Internet by 2025.
“This announcement is extremely important to our region in terms of safety and peace of mind for our residents and travelers,” said Bruce Fidler, Mayor of Creighton. “Cell coverage on the Hanson Lake road also will boost our tourism and economy. We would be extremely grateful and supportive of this initiative. Thank you for your continued commitment to our region.”
“Cell service on Highway 106 is considered an essential service to our population for the safety of all travelling this route. In addition, it will add to the economy of the region,” said Carl Lentowicz, Mayor of Denare Beach.
